Everybody Loves Raymond

Whether an office, a worksite, or any kind of workplace we find similarities between people who each bring unique personalities, wants, dreams and hopes that connect us all. On the hit show “Everybody Loves Raymond”, we see a fun-loving, tight-knit family going through life, raising children, and doing their best to get along through life’s challenges. Let’s dig into the Barone family and see what common traits we find between them and the Characters We Work With.

The Frank

Our longest tenured colleague who is as ‘Old School’ as it gets is The Frank. The Frank would have you believe he knows it all, has seen it all, and practically invented the business. His stubbornness knows no bounds, and he will debate to the death any point where he believes he’s right.

The Robert

Our happy-go-lucky colleague whose main goal is simply to come in, do his work, and go home to his family we call The Robert. The Robert does not ask for much beyond the pay and benefits, always giving his best to earn it without recognition, or opportunities for promotion that many of his colleagues do. We appreciate the Robert’s spirit and friendliness and the quality contributions this Steady Eddie makes to our team.

The Debra

Our strongest “Type A” personality is The Debra. The Debra is a workhorse, having mastered her own position years ago. There is no project she cannot complete on time and with exceptional quality. The Debra always comes in with a positive, fun attitude, but she does have a threshold for nonsense and substandard work. Those who fail to carry their weight or deliver to her standard, The Debra will go on the attack, which can be a bit scary.

The Marie

Another tenured employee who is great at what she does but can be challenging to deal with is The Marie. The Marie knows her stuff, and handles all responsibilities consistently well. It is within her interpersonal communication where people struggle to get along with The Marie. On the surface she couldn’t be sweeter, kinder and more complimentary. Upon closer inspection of these compliments, we find underlying insults, condescension, or realize they are simply backhanded-compliments that ultimately turn off her colleagues and mistrust the Marie.

The Raymond

One of our favorite co-workers who is good at his job, but brings even more value as a source of fun and levity is The Raymond. The Ray does his job well, and has been a successful contributor to the organization. But his sense of humor, friendliness, and quick wit brings people together, which is why Everybody Loves Raymond.

From Sunny California to the shores of Long Island, from Hollywood to our living rooms, we see the common characteristics that bind us. The movies, television, and music that entertain us demonstrate how Art Imitates Life, and even the sometimes outrageous Barone family who have a unique way of showing what family means, share many of the qualities we see each day through The Characters We Work With.
