Job Summary Under the direction of the Digital Communications Director, the Web Production and Content Specialist works with health system departments, the Digital Communications team, other members of the public affairs and marketing staff, and outside agencies to maximize the effectiveness of web content and help produce and deliver new web features and websites to achieve institutional objectives in alignment with strategic priorities.
The Web Production and Content Specialist reviews and manages website upload requests to ensure all web content meets established editorial, brand, graphic and navigation standards; reviews and edits web content for accuracy, quality and standards; helps establish new and improved content standards and related user guides; and coordinates with website editors and site owners to improve UC Davis Health’s web presence. The Specialist supports the rollout of new and existing websites, features, templates and components through testing, editor outreach, user support, user documentation and project coordination as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Customer or client services experience
- Experience developing, creating, writing, editing, laying out and publishing content (copy, graphics, etc.) for websites
- Ability to enforce and implement website policies and standards, ensuring that UC Davis Health’s online presence effectively and consistently communicates the health system’s and the university’s character, environment, unique attributes and ideals
- Strong editing and proofreading skills with an emphasis on writing for the web, including SEO best practices and online readability; excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation, with a firm grasp of standard English
- Experience producing websites following best practices and institutional standards, including content layout, web page production and image editing
- Demonstrated experience with and understanding of digital content management systems and other web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of the fundamentals of user experience with an emphasis on user-centric design to help create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, relevant, well-designed, and functional websites that are consistent with the organization’s message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
- Ability to participate in user testing of new and updated templates, components, and features with excellent attention to detail
- Experience leveraging website analytics tools to understand trends and visitor behavior to inform website optimization plans
- Ability to develop a thorough understanding of the organization’s editorial and brand standards, processes, procedures, applicable rules and regulations around digital communications, review and edit sites to determine if the standards are met and professionally and diplomatically communicate necessary changes to website editors
- Proficient interpersonal, personal communication and customer service skills to successfully collaborate with diverse audiences with an emphasis on troubleshooting, issue resolution, and website optimization
- Proven aptitude and experience to perform in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience working with OpenText’s TeamSite and LiveSite CMS
- Knowledge of and experience working with Wrike project management software
- Knowledge of proofreaders’ marks and AP style
- Thorough understanding of state and federal privacy, public information and copyright laws, as they apply in the hospital and academic settings; skill and sound judgment to apply and enforce laws, university policies and professional standards to specific requests for information about or access to UC Davis Health and its patients, faculty, staff and facilities

The Department of Public Affairs and Marketing plans, manages, and implements strategic communications (such as news services, public relations, marketing, internal and external communications) for UC Davis Health. Communications are aimed at a wide range of key constituencies, such as the news media, UC administration. UC Davis faculty, staff, and students, government/regulatory leaders, external physicians, business leaders, patients and health care consumers, and the general public.
