WCCS A/P Representative

NOTE: This position is open to applicants who are already permanent in the title of Clerical Associate or are reachable on the current open competitive list.

The Bureau of Procurement and Fiscal Services mission is to provide comprehensive purchasing and fiscal management for the agency. The services offered by the bureau include procurement administration, grants management, disbursement management, payment review, City tax levy budget coordination, capital project accounting, contracts administration as well as other related activities.

The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Clerical Associate Level 4 in the Bureau of Fiscal Services. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, Accounts Payable, the successful candidate will: Audit medical compensation claims daily utilizing the WCCS system. Verify price and all pertinent information including patient’s name, social security number, vendor’s name, vendor’s tax identification, and correct payment address. Apply pend3 level approvals as appropriate. Research all rejected claims to resolve payment issues. Ensure all actions are expedited, processed, and treated with equity within established guidelines. Make corrections to rejected claims in WCCS. Correct rejected claims in FMS. Activate or deactivate vendor codes of medical providers as required. Maintain Matrix to track batches of compensation claims to report the aging status of processed and unprocessed claims. Facilitate workflow for Medical Compensation desk.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Preferred Skills
• Experience in processing payment for goods and services
• Knowledge of New York City Procurement Policy Board (PPB) Rules and local laws
• Knowledge of City systems including Financial Management System (FMS)
• Strong analytical and organization skills

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
