The Vocational Development Trainer is responsible for supporting clients vocational growth and development. The Trainer assists in the facilitation of training, scheduling, retention, recognition, and other logistics of volunteers with Atlanta Mission @Work and serves as the first point of contact for volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Client-facing:
- Facilitates pre-employment training
- Assists Lead Trainer in facilitating training and serves as a back-up
- Creates training plans and identify changes needed in the curriculum as needed
- Manages a clients self-directed job search
- Ensures that all job-seeking clients have finalized resumes
- Schedules and tracks progress of individual clients mock interview scores
- Tracks all student-facing volunteer coaching sessions and related outcomes
- Offers general consultation and instruction for clients utilizing computer lab
- Conducts vocational informational sessions and tours for new clients
Volunteer-facing:
- Facilitates volunteer training
- Assists in updating volunteer handouts, guides, and other materials
- Maintains regular communication with volunteers

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong desire to work in a Christian ministry and passion for serving those experiencing homelessness;
- Believes and commits to Atlanta Mission’s Statement of Faith;
- Bachelors degree and at least 3 years of training experience; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties;
- Demonstrated work history of resourcefulness and problem solving; and
- Experience working with an economically disadvantaged population, ideally in a coaching capacity.
- Strong computer literacy in MS Office with concentration in Excel and PowerPoint;
- Salesforce experience preferred;
- Ability to approach conflict objectively and directly, not avoiding or overreacting, but collaborating and guiding towards mutually beneficial outcome;
- Ability to deal with distressed and/or demanding clients in an effective manner;
- Strong skills in intercultural, interpersonal and organization communication;
- Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize a heavy workload;
- High energy and ability to engage a large group of adult learners;
- Ability to read a classroom and assess student comprehension, while using diverse, innovative and effective adult learning techniques;
- Ability to engage varying education levels and present curriculum to address all learning styles;
- Ability to adapt presentation when needed to meet needs of participants;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization;
- Strong work ethic and business acumen with ability to excel in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment;
- Gifted communicator with strong empathy and the ability to quickly engage with diverse groups of people;
- Strong ability to write new materials and adapt current materials to meet the needs of a changing client population;
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Physical Requirements:
- Able to remain standing for extended periods of time
- Able to remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting and/or walking)
- Able to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine calculator and computer printer
- Able to communicate accurate information
- Able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel to Chicago for training with Cara Chicago
