We are currently seeking a part-time Visual Media and Imaging Specialist to produce and broadcast live meetings as well as shoot video for recordings and video recap packages to promote the work of Montgomery Planning.

The Visual Media and Imaging Specialist will report to and work closely with the Communications Manager. As a member of Montgomery Planning’s Communications Division, you will work alongside other video and photography professionals to achieve the goals of the Division. The position’s hours may vary but one can work up to 32 hours a week. You may be asked to staff meetings after normal business hours and some nights and weekends as required.

In this role, the Visual Media and Imaging Specialist will ensure that all requested meetings are streamed and recorded for consumption by residents, stakeholders, and elected officials. This position will also be responsible for working with other agencies and the public (via the M-NCPPC rental system) to staff meetings and assist with the use of the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters Audio-Visual system. Additionally, this role will be asked to cover events (news style) and take photos and videos of sites and events around Montgomery County for later use. This position will work closely with the M-NCPPC Planning Board Chair’s Office and IT Division to achieve goals.
Examples of Important Duties

  • Produce and direct M-NCPPC live meetings at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters using the multicamera and input Audio-Visual System.
  • Be onsite point of contact for external agencies and rentals who request to use the AV system.
  • Assist with coordination and scheduling of events as it pertains to the AV system.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate fixes to AV equipment to ensure broadcast operations run as intended.
  • Work with Communications Division to achieve equitable engagement through video and AV channels.
  • Provide onsite video/photo coverage such as video b-roll, photography, and interviews for special events and meetings to be used through communications channels.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Production, Communication, Digital Imaging, Photography or any related field.
  2. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total four (4) years.
  3. Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s licenses must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of their position.
  4. Pass Commission medical examination.

Preferred Qualifications of the Visual Media and Imaging Specialist

  • Experience working with Crestron Audio-Video Systems
  • Experience producing and directing live broadcast events with over three cameras
  • Experience with ENG video recording and covering news style events
  • Experience working with video conferencing hardware and software such as Polycom
  • Ability to conduct interviews for news style video recaps
  • Experience with Adobe software programs such as Premiere, After Effects
  • Ability to produce and direct events live events that may exceed eight hours.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Additional Qualifications of the Visual Media and Imaging Specialist (Not Required):
• Experience working with elected officials
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook and programs
• Knowledge and experience working with Granicus and YouTube live streaming
