The Visitor Experience Manager develops and implements SECCA’s front-of-house services, including guest orientation, customer service, retail services, ticket and membership sales, and event staffing. The Visitor Experience Manager is the public face of SECCA, responsible for welcoming visitors and ensuring they experience warm hospitality and useful information. This position works to be knowledgeable in SECCA’s history, exhibition and program content, gallery safety and security protocols, retail procedures, local businesses and events, and museum memberships and rental opportunities.

General working hours are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 8:30 – 5:30; Thursday 12 – 9. Evenings and event shifts often required.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, communicating, and implementing SECCA’s front-of-house experience for visitors. This position establishes the tone and feel of SECCA’s guest services and ensures the staff and contractors are trained to meet these expectations.
  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Programs and the Development team to cross-train Gallery Hosts and event staff.
  • Staffing the front desk/retail area during open hours.
  • Serving as an expert in retail practices, ticket sales, rental opportunities, and membership sales.
  • Overseeing the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of volunteers and interns.
  • Setting up, breaking down, and assisting with programs, events, and performances as needed.
  • Contributing and assisting in educational activities, art programs, and performances as needed.
  • Maintaining general security and safety protocols across the facilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience working front-of-house or customer service in a gallery, museum, school, library, cultural center, retail shop, restaurant, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting collaboratively with professional staff, volunteers, interns, artists, and/or members of the public.
  • Demonstrated experience in electronic communications, excel, inventorying, and calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience in cash handling, facility opening and closing, and/or inventory storage.

Physical Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to stand and/or sit in one place for an extended amount of time.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
