Description
They YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City has an immediate opening for a Vice President of Communications.
The Vice President of Communications develops, implements and administers all marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts for the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City with emphasis on increasing membership, program participation and contributed support while maintaining a strong institutional identity and brand. This position supervises the Associate Director of Communications-Brand Content and the Associate Director of Communications – Brand Experience and is accountable for tactical and strategic planning, project execution, outcome analysis and results reporting related to all areas of responsibility. This person must always demonstrate the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and control the Communications department budget
- Serve as liaison to all appropriate external resources engaged by the Association
- Monitor adherence to all established graphic standards
- Develop original story ideas by researching and interviewing staff, members, participants, donors and volunteers and submit to local media sources
- Prepare press releases, public service announcements and editorials for local media organizations
- Develop, write and edit copy for annual reports, brochures, newsletters and video productions
- Oversee web and social media strategy as well as design and content for Association website
- Develop concepts and materials for all advertising and promotional campaigns
- Serve as the Association’s spokesperson, handling all media inquiries and facilitating interviews and visits
- Prepare oral and multi-media presentations for Association events
- Support and assist with the planning and implementation of Association events
- Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers
- Represent the Association in the local community and within the YMCA Movement
- Perform all other duties as assigned
EFFECT ON END RESULTS: This position has primary responsibility for the overall effectiveness of all marketing, advertising and public relations and its relationship to the overall success of the Association. The effectiveness of this position is measured by:
- Successful achievement of agreed-upon goals and objectives
- Production of superior printed materials and other media
- Consistent placement of Association stories, public service announcements and editorials with local media
- Development and maintenance of an effective and current Association website and related social media
- Successful outcomes related to the achievement of the organization’s mission and goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in related field including experience as a department head preferred
- Strong skills in planning and organization, writing and editing
- Demonstrated ability in public speaking and clear and effective written and oral communication
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe software
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively manage multiple projects and tasks
Salary Description
$90,000 to $115,000 per year
