Description
This is a part-time position that requires a flexible work schedule any time of the week, but mostly nights and weekends to support the venue during peak times. Start and stop times will vary from week to week depending on what events have been scheduled. The Venue Specialist position ensures that clients, customers, and visitors have a positive experience at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center and West Valley Arts events. This position will also assist the Sales & Event Coordinators and Operations Supervisor, and General Manager as needed.
Schedule: Part-time, less than 30 hours per week
Starting Pay: $16.50 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of high-quality day to day operation of the venue.
- Supervise all aspects of the venue support team including the proper setup and takedown of tables and chairs, audio/visual equipment, linens, electrical needs, décor, concessions stand, bar operations, etc.
- Review setup requirements to ensure accuracy and safety. Work with Event Specialists and supervise the Set-Up Crew to ensure room setup accuracy.
- Supervise and assist the set-up crew in the setting up and taking down of all events, programs, functions, and special activities at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center
- Ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of venue support equipment including tables & chairs, audio/visual equipment, display equipment, linens, etc.
- Assist the Operations Team in the general upkeep, maintenance, and cleaning of the facility as needed.
- Support the training and development of the set-up and venue support teams in all aspects of venue and customer management to ensure delivery of a first-class venue experience.
- Assist in the oversight of events in the facility, festival grounds, amphitheater, and auxiliary spaces, as necessary.
- Maintain positive relationships with designated internal and external conference providers, wedding planners, event planners, vendors, artists, clients, etc.; act as the customer relationship lead and as a point of contact during venue activities.
- Maintain constructive relationships with third party service providers (e.g., catering, technical, and porterage services) and customers to provide timely and cost-effective third-party services to support events.
- Support all administrative and operational aspects of the venue business to ensure growth and development.
- Proactively solve problems and provide timely resolution to ensure minimal impact to customer and staff satisfaction. Identify the most appropriate course of action for problem resolution and effectively communicate plans to those impacted.
- Assist the Sales and Event Coordinators and Event Specialists as needed to receive payments, client set up requirements, update physical calendar, the day to day running of events, etc.
- Assist the Operations Supervisor as needed to ensure the proper maintenance and safety protocols are executed effectively.
- Provide support to the UCCC General Manager and Division Manager as needed.

Requirements
- Ability to work with little or no direct supervision.
- Excellent hospitality and customer service skills.

- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints and within established deadlines.
- Working knowledge of basic Audio/Visual equipment.

Education and/or Experience
- Must have a high school certificate of graduation (or equivalency).
- 1-2 years of experience as a server, banquet captain/host, venue specialist, or event supervisor in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or banquet/event facility preferred.
Language Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and have basic writing skills.
- Be able to follow both written and oral instruction.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
