Traveling Assistant Demolition Project Manager
Independence Excavating is looking for a motivated and driven Assistant Demolition Project Manager to join our growing team on demo projects across the United States. As the Assistant Demolition PM, you will assist in the day-to-day administrative, operational, and managerial tasks of the project with your primary function being a project facilitator assisting the PM and the team as required while gaining experience.

A typical day looks like:
- Completing assigned tasks thoughtfully, but not asked to make important decisions on your own
- Preparing draft submittals and work plans as needed
- Making detailed lists of subcontracts and purchase orders along with contacts for Superintendents prior to the start of the job
- Making sure that Superintendents, Subcontractors, and Suppliers receive amended drawings and specifications as well as a working contact list for the project
- Assisting Superintendent and Foreman in keeping as-built drawings up to date
- Preparing the details needed for the Project Manager to submit pay estimates to Owners
- Verifying invoices from Subcontractors and Suppliers
- Assisting in pricing changes for the Owner
- Monitoring and checking the progress of project close-out activities such as punch list coordination, furnishing as-built drawings, providing O & M manuals and compiling final estimate/retainer billing
Do you have what it takes?
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required and Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Previous Co-Op/Intern experience in commercial construction required, demolition experience is preferred
- 4-6 years of previous related experience is required
- Must have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assigned
- Must develop positive working relationships with Owners and Project Engineers
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners, and general contractors
- Must communicate bigger issues to IX upper management in a timely manner
- 90% travel is required, including regular overnight travel; position is required to be onsite full time and is often out of state
