About The Transportation Department:

The Transportation Department’s mission is to facilitate safe and secure commercial transportation on public highways, railroads and transportation facilities, as well as to promote quality and equitable service in a proactive manner for the public and commercial carriers in the household goods, bus and ferry boat industries. This is accomplished through reduction and prevention of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles, reduction and prevention of hazardous materials incidents, development of consumer protection regulations, and resolution of consumer and carrier complaints.

What You’ll Do:

In this position as a Transportation Administrator 1in the Transportation Enforcement department you will oversee, administer and manage Safety Audit (SA) programs; serve as agency specialist in SA audits; maintain regulatory compliance with state and federal rules and guidelines; monitor federal rules and regulations governing process; gather and analyze correction data on SA’s received from field staff conducting audits; develop training for staff to increase quality, quantity and timeliness of conducting and uploading audits to PUCO and federal motor carrier safety database; other duties as assigned.

Report in location: 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215, Franklin County.

Our organization currently follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office as needed and based on operational need. This is subject to change with limited notice. A teleworking agreement must be approved by management.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in engineering, public administration, business administration, political science or science (e.g., chemistry, physics) AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in state & federal laws, rules & regulations pertaining to specific transportation area (e.g., hazardous waste, registration & permits, civil forfeiture, economic analysis, enforcement, railroad) AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles & techniques AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in budgeting.
