Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F On-call rotation

Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs such as lighting, ballasts, fan motors and switching devices. Construct dimensional walls with wood/metal studs, hang sheetrock and finish with mud/ tape. Painting where required. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and makes appropriate repairs of county plumbing systems including but not limited to; automatic actuated infra-red lavatory faucets and flush valves, waste line repairs using primarily cast iron, drinking fountain repairs of all kinds, hot and cold water circulating piping systems for both domestic hot water and HVAC systems, detention grade shower valves and faucets. This is manual, physically demanding work done both indoors and outdoors. Typical assignments include providing preventative maintenance to county property, repair and cleaning county property, assist other staff in the completion of their assignments and facilitate the efficient operation of county properties however they may be assigned. Employee may be directed to work at times not normally scheduled in order to complete work as needed. Supervisors will expect the employee to independently and correctly complete assignments. The employee is expected to be skilled and proficient in the safe use of normal building related equipment and maintenance of both hand and power tools.
Plumbing
- Perform plumbing work related to domestic water and waste system repairs; repairs leaking faucets and pipes; unstops and repairs toilets; unstops drains; installs plumbing ducts, pipes and fixtures. Independently clear waste lines of obstructions both above and below grade, behind walls and chases or above ceilings using a commercial grade sewer machine.
Electrical
- Change lamps and bulbs
- Convert light fixture to LED
- Assist electrician
Locks
- Removes, replaces and repairs pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical locks; disassembles, installs and repairs locks. Repair locksets and door hardware. Troubleshoot and repair door controls including remotely operated locks and intercoms.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and hardware. Two plus years of experience.
