Stamps School of Art & Design is looking for an experienced Time-based Media Studio Coordinator to provide technical support, administrative oversight, maintenance, and organization of assigned studio, checkout center, and instructional environments. You will report to the Studio Coordinator Supervisor. You will work onsite at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Responsibilities*
- Assigned Studio Area(s): Time-based media labs and studios, Equipment Checkout Office (ECHO)
-Technical / Instructional Support 45%
- You will coordinate the daily operation of assigned studio(s), checkout center, and instructional environments.
- You will provide audio/visual expertise in Stamps a/v projects, such as: classroom a/v, exhibitions, remote learning and conferencing, lecture capture.
- You will work cooperatively Studio Coordinators to provide productive work environments for art and design students and faculty. This includes finding workable solutions for studio needs, and strengthening the school’s unified approach to creative work.
– Management and Oversight of Studio Spaces 50%
- You will manage student workers who serve as studio assistants, and be responsible for their training.
- You will maintain the physical facilities, online services, equipment, and supplies in the studio
- You will ensure a safe and secure studio environment by following OSEH procedures to maintain safe studio practices; develop and implement studio use policies; serve as the liaison to other university units; and, oversee chemical inventory to ensure safe storage, usage, and disposal; maintain reports on those qualified to use the Studio.
- You will analyze courses of action and make independent decisions to meet the needs of instructors, students, and staff in the studios.
- You will assist with financial oversight of the facilities. You will assist with planning course supply budgets; collect and record student/lab fees; monitor expenses; and reconcile monthly statements.
– Special Projects 5%
- You will assist with school activities.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree in time-based media, art/design or related field
- Experience with studio processes and equipment maintenance
- Comprehensive technical background, including experience in video production and editing, animation, lighting, and audio production
- 1+ years of demonstrated experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Premiere and After Effects
- Basic computer experience
- Evidence of ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Demonstrated commitment to facilitating a community of creative practitioners
