Summary
- Under moderate direction, performs specific Time & Attendance, payroll, payroll tax, and audit activities to support the payroll team and the HR organization.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Provide Time & Attendance support to supervisors, employees, administrative assistants and human resources personnel.
- Complete recurring audits of time entries including total hours, labor accounting, vacation hours, leave of absence, and supervisor approvals.
- Process timesheet manual overrides and timesheet recalculations.
- Setup and assist in maintaining employee Time & Attendance access.
- Audit and validate payroll cycle runs before payroll cycle is finalized. Payroll frequencies include semi-monthly, biweekly and off-cycle.
- Audit and validate payroll funding documentation.
- Review exception reports and BI alerts. Resolve or escalate to appropriate resource.
- Generate payroll tax reconciliations.
- Generate payroll garnishment reconciliations.
- Perform daily tasks of reviewing, researching and addressing Payroll tickets and inquiries from employees and vendors.
- Frequent interaction and coordination with administrative assistants, accounting, tax and treasury.
- Participate in generating and/or validating data for internal audit requests.
- Partner with HRIS Specialists to build and enhance payroll related BI reports.
- Validate vacation payout calculations and adherence to company policy.
- Maintain satisfactory level of customer service.
- Participate in payroll year-end activities.
- Backup Sr Payroll Specialist as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in payroll, timekeeping, tax, audit, human resources or related field.
- Solid understanding of payroll tax and compliance requirements.
- Experience resolving employee inquiries in an HR call center or similar experience.
- Strong ability to develop partnerships with departments outside of human resources.
- Proficient in utilizing Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential employee data.
- Ability to research and analyze payroll or payroll tax data and discern root cause.
