We are seeking a full-time Technical Project Manager. This position can be remote, or you can work in one of our office locations in Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; or Fairbanks, AK.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Axiom Data Science is recruiting for a Technical Project Manager to help accelerate the development of our scientific data management software tools. This position will support the software engineering, data analyst, and data management teams with the delivery of projects and initiatives across the organization.
- Work with a team of project managers and technical teams to deliver mission critical projects in a dynamic and agile environment
- Interface with stakeholders to communicate status and ideate new projects
- Gather and document requirements for data product delivery with project partners
- Produce project plans, roadmaps, and documentation to support project efforts, monitor status, and manage scope
- Run standup, workgroup, and client meetings, and identify action items and address blockers to keep projects on track
- Improve process inputs, streamline workflows, and contribute to project management tools
- Develop or contribute to grant proposals, contracts, and statements of work with project partners focused on delivery of data management systems, products, or other scientific applications
- Give demonstrations or presentations to stakeholders and science-oriented audiences
- Occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences, and workshops
Our ideal candidate would possess a mixture of technical knowledge and project leadership, as they oversee both the project outcomes and coordinate the teams performing the work
- 5+ years experience as a technical project manager or similar role
- Working knowledge of communication, project, and workstream management tools such as Confluence, Jira, Slack, and Trello
- Self-starter who can grasp the details of complex, cross-functional projects and can effectively distill into actionable project plans
- Technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation
- Familiarity or prior experience in the physical and/or life sciences (biological, ecological, environmental, meteorological, oceanographic, etc.)
- Familiarity with the data management life cycle and basic principles of data management and documentation
- Superb organizational skills applied to coordinating and prioritizing requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with agile project management or product development principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially regarding technical information
- Self motivated, independent and flexible
