The Technical Director must have experience developing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining video games. We’re looking for someone with a self-motivated approach to work. This role provides you with an exciting opportunity to bring your experience collaborating with internal and external partners and delivering quality software. Must have professional experience with C++, shipped multiple titles, and demonstrated technical skills with game engine systems and engineering.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in professional software development methodologies including evaluating and coaching teams to adopt new practices.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Passion for games and technology with hands-on experience shipping multiple video game titles.
- Experience working with online multiplayer games, including online services and external partners
- Demonstrated experience with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or equivalent engine platform
- Technical skills in a specialist field like AI, Animation, Audio, or Tools Pipelines
- Ability to Travel Domestically and Internationally up to 25% of the time.
Software Engineering IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

- Participate in cross-group work streams to facilitate communication between external partners and multiple internal engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Program/Product Managers, designers, artists, and central technology teams to help external partners be successful as well as evaluate development risk.
- Work in close partnership with various internal and external teams of talented peers to solve technical issues across a diverse games portfolio.
- Participate in performance reviews and provide optimization guidance.
- Become skilled in Microsoft platforms and services engineering, supporting partners with Microsoft’s growing roster of Xbox and Windows 10 Personal Computer (PC) live services.
