We are looking to hire a Technical Art Director that will help shape the technology that will empower our content authors to build the virtual world that will set the standard for next-generation graphical beauty from Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. You will have the opportunity to leverage your creativity, customer empathy, interpersonal skills and technical expertise to help define, create and build the workflows that will harness the artistic capabilities of our content creators. As the Technical Art Director, you will be working closely with the art leadership teams working on Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon and Fable, you’ll be responsible for defining the direction and goals of our internal art technologies and tools. You will also be working in close collaboration with the technical and development leads, to deliver technical content creation methods and processes that aim to efficiently and cost effectively deliver quality art content across all 3 teams.

As Turn 10 grows, your work here will help the studio expand into new territory, reaching more customers, and reaching them in ways not yet previously explored. We will provide you with the right opportunities and support to best leverage your areas of passion.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 6+ years technical art or industry-related design experience
    • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ years technical art or industry-related design experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience shipping at least one AAA (Triple-A) title.
  • Experience in collaboration with different functions in game development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Communication and interpersonal skills, especially providing feedback and direction in a constructive and clear manner.
  • Understanding of industry trends and future looking developments in visual arts.

Technical Art M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and support the art leadership teams at each studio to assess and strategize the technical needs to execute desired in-game visuals.
  • Strategically keep the studio ahead of the curve with new technologies and workflows.
  • Support Research & Development efforts by testing and prototyping feasibility.
  • Work with art and development teams to develop content authoring techniques that streamline content processes, workflows and pipelines.
  • Identify areas across teams where consistent content authoring or rendering techniques can create unification of technology and tools.
  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of technical artists.
