This is a temporary assignment that will serve in our “Kids Zone” – a daycare that serves all ages (infant – 17) where parents are always on site, so the role requires engagement with kids and parents. This role serves at Restoration House – Emergency Women & Children’s Shelter (655 Ethel St Atlanta, GA 30318).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that aims to stimulate the senses; utilize a holistic approach to presenting the lessons
  • Develop weekly lesson plans according to the designated curriculum coupled with supplemental activities and materials to meet the specific needs of the children
  • Organize and participate in classroom activities indoors and outdoors, such as games, reading to children, painting instructions, handwork, songs, drawing, and classroom academic work
  • Provide daily instructions to assigned students based on approved lesson plans
  • Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in academic, social, physical, spiritual, and emotional areas
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed to secure licensing standards

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training
  • Teaching certificate or Child Development Associate certificate (CDA)
  • Adult & Infant CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Experience working with children from infancy to age 5

Environmental Job Requirements:

  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions during outdoor activities
  • Low exposure risk to communicable diseases as described by OSHA
