NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range

$56,100 – $107,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a highly motivated Tactical Planner to be oversee and administer a designated facilities or space portfolio or supporting a facilities program area. You will perform near-term site, energy, condition, space and infrastructure planning studies. You will process customer space, building, infrastructure and siting requests and formulate ideas and alternatives for customer and corporate investment recommendations.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Conduct space utilization studies to include laboratory, office, storage and conference rooms.
  • Complete annual space audits.
  • Communicate and coordinate space needs, requests and modifications with building operations teams.
  • Team with other Space Tactical Planners and Strategic Space Planners to develop cross-divisional space management options, recommendations, and solutions to increase space utilization. These solutions may include: consolidations, modifications, reconfigurations, and re-purposing of space, and co-location of organizations and functions.
  • Negotiate customer requirements and limitations.
  • Direct and coordinate office moves within their portfolio with Sandia’s personnel moves team.
  • Update TRIRIGA space information database system and related information technology applications.
  • Review project and facility drawings and floor plans and work with the Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) team to ensure all space are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain space reports and metrics to include consistency to DOE orders and reporting schedules.
  • Support analyses for Preliminary Real Estate Plans (PREPs), Division Facility and Infrastructure (F&I) Plans, the DOE Facility Information Management System (FIMS), and other plans and studies, as requested.

You’ll learn to understand the following:

  • All space types, design basis of spaces and occupancy within their assigned portfolio.
  • All building systems to ensure that HVAC, electrical and communication infrastructure, and physical layout will meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Develop the scope and budget, and authorize space modifications; coordinate and be responsible for the project execution with Facilities Express and contractors.
  • Assign all space based on customer need. Know the flux of staff and their space requirements (i.e., new hires, transfers in and students that are coming in – interviewed, accepted, on role, as well as retirees and transfers out).

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work 100% onsite.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Architecture, Engineering, Business, etc. plus two (2) or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Using IBM Facilities Management System (TRIRIGA) or similar software system.
    • Space Management area, or equivalent education/training.
    • Database management, Microsoft Office products, particularly EXCEL.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Sandia’s facility and operational policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting facility management and operations.
  • Experience or familiarity with GIS system software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other three-dimensional modeling software (e.g. SketchUp).
  • Ability to exercise initiative as well as the competence to handle and complete multiple priorities.
  • Experience with interior design spatial analysis of furniture and office layouts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the status of policies, reports, decisions, and completion of work.
