The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court is a part of an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Florida. This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the Chief Judge and may be terminated by the Chief Judge or his or her designee for any lawful reason including no reason.

The Systems Technician performs technical work involving the implementation, maintenance, and support of multiple operating system environments and associated hardware, including the court system’s circuit and state-wide connections, in addition to Manatee County’s Wide Area Network (WAN). Ensures all court software applications are properly configured and running correctly. The Systems Technician also provides support and training to end users.

Job Description
What You Will Do:

  • Prepares plans, procedures, and quality control measures for existing and proposed client server systems.
  • Consults with supervisor, Senior Systems Administrator, and other departmental personnel involved with the implementation and integration of computer applications and other client server or web server systems.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to all judges and other end users of the court.
  • Installs, maintains, and provides support for hardware, software, and peripheral components.
  • Trains employees on the use of hardware and software. Analyzes difficulties experienced in systems and revises the logic and procedures involved, as required to correct problem areas.
  • Coordinates and supports technology cart requests. Coordinates and supports video conferencing requests.
  • Provides for the optimum utilization of applications, analyzes alternate utilization options, and assists in the resolution of problems. This includes support of Courtsmart, OpenCourt, aiSmartBench, Stenograph Case Catalyst, and Judicial Automated Calendaring System.
  • Responsible for County and State courts System inventory management, including database management and annual inventory audits. Provides specifications for computer hardware and software for Court Administration. Recommends improvements to technology-related policies, systems, processes, and guidelines.

  • Technically competent: Proficient in LAW/WAN networks, computer systems and IT components, internet security and data privacy principles.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in desktop support.

A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience working in a court system in desired.
  • Good Knowledge with LAN/WAN networks. Good knowledge of computer systems and IT components.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles. Good troubleshooting skills.
