About Kinesiology and Sport Studies
Founded in 2015, the Master of Arts in Sport Coaching (MASC) was the first degree in GSPP history to be offered fully online and continues to be the only fully online degree at GSPP. We established additional fully online graduate certificates in 2018 and 2019. In Fall 2021, we launched an undergraduate minor in Kinesiology and Sport Studies, and in Fall 2023, we are launching a new, on-campus undergraduate major in Kinesiology and Sport Studies, with plans for continued growth in students and degree offerings. Our new undergraduate major in Kinesiology and Sport Studies is an on-campus program, with the likelihood of offering some courses in summer or inter-term online.
Position Summary
GSPP seeks a full-time, benefited, Student and Academic Services Manager to support our undergraduate program and provide secondary support to our online sport programs and certificates. This important role will serve as the primary point of contact throughout an undergraduate student’s lifecycle (enrolled through graduation to alumni engagement). This role is directly responsible for student advisement and enhancing student persistence, academic achievement, and career and graduate or professional school placement.
Also, this person will provide essential academic and logistical support for student internship, study abroad, and assessment and accreditation. Finally, this position will provide secondary support for the program’s marketing and communication. This position reports to the Kinesiology and Sport Studies Academic Program Director, with a dotted line to other GSPP staff including the Director of Enrollment, Student Services Administrator, and Director of Academic Services. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Sports Coaching Graduate Enrollment Coordinator to ensure alignment on messaging and processes between the programs. To meet the demands of on-campus students, this position will be expected to work on-campus, with some remote work negotiable.

About the Graduate School of Professional Psychology
The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at DU was created in 1976 to house one of the first Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) programs in the country, under the then-new Vail training model (practitioner-scholar). GSPP provides four specialized masters programs: Sport Coaching, Sport and Performance Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health, as well as online certificates and continuing education. We also offer several fully online graduate certificates in sport, strength and conditioning, and fitness coaching.
The School also has a partially affiliated, APA-accredited internship consortium, and several in-house and satellite training clinics that serve Denver and the surrounding communities. As a professional school, GSPP promotes and utilizes high-level pedagogy that integrates applied practice, theory, research, and scholarship. All GSPP programs provide comprehensive academic and applied training within an academic environment that values cooperation and collaboration and fosters critical thinking and self-determined functioning. Essential Functions
Student Recruitment, Retention, and Success
- Develop and implement a comprehensive student success (graduation rate, retention rate, employed or enrolled in graduate or professional school, protective & risk factors) strategy, inclusive of key metrics (GPA, referrals) and reports.
- Lead new student orientation, cultivate student sense of belonging, and build the Kinesiology and Sport Studies community.
- Lead undergraduate advisement strategy and provide direct support to undergraduate students in course registration and course planning.
- Coordinate undergraduate study abroad, such as student preparation and required coursework, transfer of credit, student tracking and issues, and liase with internal and abroad stakeholders.
- Support faculty and students with undergraduate internship and other experiential learning opportunities, including forms, student tracking and issues, and accreditation matters.
- Closely collaborate with the Sport Coaching Graduate Enrollment Coordinator in support of the undergraduate to graduate 4+1 program pipeline, including operations and communications amongst faculty and staff.
- Proactively reach out to students and provide accurate and timely support, leveraging all available tools to report, monitor, and document interactions communicating with students in person, by phone, and video conference.
- Develop and/or maintain tracking system and databases such as Banner (DU’s Student Information System) as needed to record student progress, changes to degree plans, course of study, leaves of absence, etc.
- Provide support in tracking of enrollment and student progress to provide necessary records and data for DU purposes, including tuition forecasting.
- Ensure students are aware of graduation procedures and policies and complete graduation review and certification.
- Collaborate, receive and provide support, and enhance organizational effectiveness with other GSPP staff.
- Create and update materials related to essential functions.
- Understand market forces and economic changes affecting program goals and prospective student needs, educational and career interests/goals, other germane information.
Academic Support
- Maintain knowledge of the curricula for DU degrees, certificates, courses, and stay up-to-date with DU policies and procedures for admissions, enrollment, and completing a program of study.
- Assist in coordination of program events, such as guest lectures, workshops, and career development.
- Coordinate systems and documents related to course management, undergraduate and graduate bulletins, and student handbooks.
- Support scheduling of program activities such as courses, advisement, student-faculty interactions, student clubs, and graduation ceremonies.
- Support program adherence and operations related to state and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist faculty in program-level accreditation and university program assessment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal Offices and personnel across DU such as the Registrar, Student Life, Campus
- Safety, and Career & Professional Development.
Marketing & Promotion
- Produce regular, excellent communications across multiple platforms for prospective undergraduate students, such as on-campus recruitment events, website, social media, and webinars.
- Contribute to program marketing plan, which at times will include partnering with the Sport Coaching Graduate Program to highlight its benefits and career opportunities.
- Assist in reporting and monitoring data to track recruitment performance and enhance recruitment strategies (e.g. yield management, forecasting, etc.).
- Represent our program at events and, as needed, transport, set-up, and dismantle recruitment materials.
- Assist in maintenance of alumni and community mailing lists and collaborate with the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement to cultivate alumni relationships.
- Work with various vendors to order swag and other recruitment materials, such as table top displays and banners.
Other Duties
- Engage in process improvement to improve the student experience.
- Attend program meetings with faculty, staff, and students.
- Participate as member of staff teams and relevant committees, which also supports cross-training to promote sustainability and consistency
- Adapt to change and engage in learning and growth.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of college student success and enrollment processes.
- Knowledge of college-aged students’ learning styles and preferences, organizational culture of higher education, and appreciation for academic policies and procedures.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to write effective student correspondence and internal communication, and effectively present information in informal and public (including large group) settings.
- Strong organizational skills to determine priorities and manage multiple responsibilities
- Skilled in using computer/technological solutions, including Microsoft Office suite, customer relationship management software, databases, and Zoom.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain FERPA and follow other DU and GSPP Policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with many faculty and staff
- Ability to engage in occasional out-of-town travel, able to transport short distances up to 95 lbs., and set-up and dismantle large recruitment booths.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of work experience that is directly related to the essential job functions
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable education and experience
- Access to a personal car and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of work experience that is directly related to the essential job functions
- Formal education in college student personnel or student affairs
- Familiarity with the fields of kinesiology and sport studies
- Experience teaching or developing learner materials, including using learning management systems such as Canvas
- Experience with higher education
Working Environment
1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.

Physical Activities
1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, benefited position expected to work 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of student engagement and recruitment events, some evening or weekend hours may be required. Travel to recruitment events is expected to be less than 10%.

The salary grade for the position is 8.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $52,000 – $58,000.
