Strength & Conditioning Coach – Basketball

The Strength & Conditioning Coach – Basketball will design, implement, supervise and manage a comprehensive, year-round athlete development program, including teaching, coaching and educational activities for Bucknell’s Division I men’s and women’s basketball programs.

This position reports to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Job Duties:– Design, implement, supervise, and evaluate the Strength and Conditioning (Athlete Development) Program for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs. This includes, but is not limited to, injury prevention exercises, performance enhancement, nutrition, conditioning, speed and agility, strength training and student well-being.

– Instruct, monitor and educate men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes regarding proper weight training and skill development techniques for both improved performance and injury prevention.

– Teach individuals and groups of player’s specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season.

– Provide consultation and expert advice to the head men’s and women’s basketball coaches regarding progress of each student-athlete relative to their specific playing position and progress goals.

– Collaborate with Sports Medicine, Team Physician and Physical Therapists on rehabilitation strategies and return to play protocols for athletes. Work with coaches to incorporate injury prevention exercises in workouts and practices.

– Make presentations to prospects, families and others on the Athlete Development Program for basketball student-athletes.

– This position will work early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays to accommodate student-athlete schedules. Away competition travel with programs as schedules allow.
Minimum Qualifications:– Bachelor’s degree
– Knowledge of the rules and safety requirements of strength and conditioning training. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques and safety measures for student-athletes to compete at the Division I collegiate level.
– Experience instructing, monitoring and educating student-athletes in a collegiate setting regarding proper weight training/skill development techniques and proven creation/design of training programs for both improved performance and injury prevention.
– Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Must maintain certification at appropriate level to meet the current and future levels as defined by the NCAA or the institution.
– Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:– Familiarity with cloud-based strength & conditioning programming and monitoring software (i.e, BridgeAthletic, TeamBuilder, Catapult, etc)
– Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with others
– Advanced Certifications or Masters Degree in related field
Physical Demands:– Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
– Significant physical activity. Requires handling of above average-weighted objects and standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $39,120 – 48,900 (E05). The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate’s credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

The Community
