Job Description

Show Me Mizzou (showme.missouri.edu) is looking for a self-motivated communicator who’s ready to highlight the people and projects that make Mizzou special.
This position puts you in the center of the action – highlighting the university’s top priorities – and gives you the opportunity to partner with digital storytelling experts who are passionate about finding the best ways and platforms to share our story.
As part of the Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing (JOSCM), you’ll be the right-hand person for the editor of digital publications, and work closely with the @Mizzou social and Mizzou Visual Productions teams. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with dozens of specialists from the broader JOSCM division and expand your skill set.
Primary responsibilities:
- Report and write stories that highlight the university’s research, teaching, programs and initiatives, and the people who make them possible.
- Collaborate with the @Mizzou social and Mizzou Visual Productions teams on photo shoots, video and other digital storytelling content.
- Partner with the JOSCM team and campus communicators to amplify content that underscores the university’s key goals and messages.
- Ensure brand and messaging consistency across all platforms of university communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required skills:
- Use of Microsoft Word.
- Basic Photoshop: sizing and cropping images.
- Basic InDesign: placing images into templates and exporting them.
Salary
Salary Range: $47,476-$56,000
Grade: GGS 9E
University Title: STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT

Shift
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., M-F, with nights and weekends on occasion as needed
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 finished stories. Consider including a few features that showcase your best human-oriented storytelling, as well as some news-you-can-use/shorter pieces.
- Anything else you feel represents how you think about storytelling as a package; not just written text. Feel free to include a brief explanation if you think it would be helpful to us.
