Staff Software Engineer, Change Modernization

What you’ll do…
Walmart Global Technology Platform is transforming and Modernizing it’s Platform and Applications change leveraging Engineering and Tech powered strategy.

This position is responsible for the overall technical change management of a Walmart Global Technology Platform services’ driving change modernization, dependency mapping and Automated Change Management across walmart platforms and cloud changes across Microsoft, Google and Walmart private cloud

Design Predictive Intelligence, change risk classification, Automated Change evaluation and enablement. External Service Provider’s Technical change Impact Analysis, Production Readiness and validation for changes, Public Cloud provider / Vendor change analysis, dependency and technical impact analysis.

Requires knowledge of: Software architecture; Distributed systems; Scalability; Design patterns; Disaster Recovery; Building Minimum Viable Product- MVP;

Requires knowledge of Coding standards and guidelines; Coding languages (Java, Go Lang, GitOps, APIs), CICD/ DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, Artifactory, Deployment on K8s clusters, docker containers etc.) and Platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure, GCP.); Quality, Safety and Security (PCI etc.) standards; Take initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful for future scope of work. Build scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery), Testing or any other process (as applicable). Build Machine learning model for change risk classifications.

Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

What you’ll do:

You will be responsible for more developing and automating manual change management processes and practices in platform services which will be leveraged across walmart.

You will design and develop the change modernization and automation services and will work with other engineers within cross functional team

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 10 years’ experience in site reliability engineering, site wide change management, or related area.
  • 7+ years’ hands-on experience in Java, GoLang
  • 5+ years of experience in GitOps, Devops, CI/CD
  • 5+ years of experience in integration, API
  • 5+ years in Linux, Container , Kubernetes skills
  • 5+ years of experience in service oriented automated incident, problem and change management.
  • 5+ years of experience in Machine learning based risk and change Management, Anomaly detection, Health Status Dashboard, Intelligent Alerting, Investigation and RCA
  • 5+ years of experience in Azure, Google cloud Infrastructure services
  • 5+ years of experience Overall, change Visualization
  • 3+ years of Production deployment update (Canary based), Traffic Shaping, Failover and Load Balancing
  • Experience in Machine learning models, Data Analytics and reporting is a huge plus
  • Certification in Java, Cloud is a Plus
  • Excellent communications skills

The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00-$216,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

– Stock equity incentives
