Job Summary
Sr. Trading Operations Analysts – Risk perform functions associated with:
- Trading confirmations including oversight of physical and financial transaction records in PSEG’s ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management System, Dodd Frank (and other) regulatory reporting, price index reporting.
- Management of all forward and spot commodity price data flows into the ETRM system used as PSEG’s system of record for valuation of physical and financial hedges.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead counterparty, broker, and exchange confirmation validation
- Responsible for preparing daily & monthly trader exception reports, additional compliance reports that may be more complex, as applicable. Review Analyst work as needed.
- Responsible for leading completion of daily and monthly activities not limited to :
- Counterparty, OTC Broker, Clearing Broker trade confirmation
- Price reconciliation processes, monitoring of ISO auction results (Capacity & Financial Transmission Rights)
- Review of all price sources and price formulas
- Creation and review of commodity forward and spot price analytics (e.g. charts, tables, regressions, etc.)
- Completion of month and quarter end close processes
- Working with internal and external departments to answer trade and commodity forward market price related inquiries
- Creation of ad hoc position and valuation (profit and loss) reports
- Responsible for leading compliance with all valuation-related Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls, for the purposes of ensuring accurate mark-to-market valuation of ER&T’s physical and financial hedges (trades).
- Daily management of all commodity data feeds for forward and spot prices using PSEG’s commodity data management system and energy trading & risk management system.
- Responsible for ensuring daily compliance with Dodd Frank swap data reporting requirements, price index reporting requirements, trade limit reporting etc.
Job Specific Qualifications
- 5 years related business experience; 5 years of experience in an energy & commodities related field
- Bachelor’s Degree or 8 years of related professional experience
Additional:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge energy / commodity markets including power, natural gas, etc.
- Understanding of SOX guidelines and procedures
- Strict attention to detail & excellent time management skills
- Ability to investigate, analyze, and explain data variances
- Strong understanding of wholesale electricity and natural gas markets
- Subject matter expert in one of the following fields:
- Energy trading confirmations, Dodd Frank & commodity price data indices reporting
- Wholesale electricity and natural gas markets
- ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management) system experience
- Commodity data management, data flows, and reporting functionality
- Proven Ability to take initiative and ownership of risk operations functions
