Sr. TPM – Test Systems & Verif, Project Kuiper

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will help define and develop the interfaces, manage requirements, and organize technical efforts. This role includes direct responsibility for program and project management of system level development. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop and test the system.

This position requires a program management background and direct experience developing relevant systems. You will create and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly. A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks, uses great judgment to make trade-offs, and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take large, complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:

  • Develop and manage technical requirements for test, verification and harness of complex systems
  • Decompose technical requirements for test into software and hardware requirements aligned with development, manufacturing and verification test strategy.
  • Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to define automated test station hardware and software requirements.
  • Identify and manage the development of automated test equipment test hardware and software.
  • Manage a large number of dependencies across many engineering disciplines to ensure that development schedules are met.
  • Develop program and team processes and tools, as required

You must be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project life-cycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

About the team

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical lead, systems engineer, technical program or project management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system and including leadership of cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.
  • 7+ years of hardware, software, test engineering, ground support equipment and/or harness design, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tools such as MS Project, SmartSheet or alternative.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing test methods, concepts and solutions.
  • Direct experience with test methods and approaches for aerospace systems.
  • Direct experience with wire harnessing methods, applications, engineering and manufacturing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software) on time, to scope, with high quality.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
  • Maturity, judgment, and proven ability to lead and influence others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with engineers, business owners, and senior business leaders.
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Experience developing avionics for aerospace applications or systems operating in extreme environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
