The Walmart Senior Manager of Category Strategy & Insights – Designate will lead strategic projects and drive commercial impact on our $10B+ business at Walmart. This role is designed to be highly developmental, engaging with key stakeholders (VP and Sr. Directors in Insights), as well as other cross functional leaders. This grooming role experience will help you on-board to the Walmart team, lead ownable and meaningful work, and gain exposure to Commercial Insights, Commercial, eComm, Marketing, and Supply Chain. The intent is to prepare you to step into a Senior Manager role within Strategy and Insights, with strong initial on-boarding plan and opportunity to contribute to key aspects of our purpose agenda (e.g., Pep+, Employee Resource Groups, Racial Equality Journey)
Responsibilities
- Drive accelerated growth, market share gains, and elevated customer partnership via category and shopper insights
- Develop compelling insights presentation leveraging broad range of data and engage with the customer to share actionable insights and consult on growth strategies in partnership with the VP of Category Insights and Strateg
- Learn and master Luminate which is a key data insights resource we leverage at Walmart
- Collaborate with Sr. Director of Commercial Insihgts, VP of Ecommerce and VP of Strategy and Insights to scope and define new growth opportunities
- Create and deliver informative, detailed, and impactful category reviews and share reporting for internal leadership to gain experience on sales insights with focus on white space areas to be most incremental to the team
- Utilize your experience in analytics, insights, and storytelling to convey actionable insights
- Steward strategic thinking and a scenario-planning mindset to collaboratively design ‘problems to solve,’ moving ideas to initiatives to test-and-learn projects
Compensation & Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,300 – $177,850
- Location confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of category management experience
- Collaboration is essential in this role as the person will work very closely with Walmart Merchants, internal teams, cross-functional internal teams, and HQ/Business Units teams
- Strong planning/organizing skills: capable of managing major projects simultaneously
- Strong teamwork skills: possess exceptional group facilitation skills
- Experience with industry resources (e.g. IRI or Nielsen, Luminate, 8451, Euromonitor, Mintel, Kantar, etc)
- Ability to demonstrate a growth mindset and intellectual curiosity
- Strong use of influencing skills to gain alignment across internal/external key stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with ability to send and receive information clearly and concisely
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, opportunities and gaps, and integrate across disparate data sources
- Ability to communicate complex information and implications both verbally, in interactions with senior customer leaders, and in written presentations, utilizing “storytelling techniques” to communicate a clear, compelling and cohesive shopper story
- Demonstrated strategic orientation, ability to see the bigger picture and translate into tactical action plans. Experience with custom research methodologies preferred but not required
- Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time
