Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma
- 3 years’ experience in docketing
- Strong computer skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and attorneys on a regular basis
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior experience with a docketing electronic docketing system, such as CompuLaw
- 5 years’ prior docketing experience with a large law firm
What will your day look like?
As a Sr Docketing Specialist, you will review all incoming correspondence, which includes the creation of new files, review of correspondence for docketing purposes, and forwarding to the appropriate person for action. You will maintain the docketing database by updating and clearing items as directed by the secretary/attorney team and follow up with the team for more information as needed. You will process all incoming mail/correspondence for patent docketing purposes, including regular post mail, downloading emails, and faxes. You will transfer files outside the firm, including updating the database and physically sending boxes with appropriate letters and lists. You will prepare and open new case files and input records into the database and pull files for all incoming correspondence. After docketing, you will copy and distribute PTO correspondence along with the file to the appropriate staff member.
You will also run a variety of reports for enforcement and prosecution and upon request from, the secretary/attorney team and processes transferred in files by inputting them into the system and docketing as required. You will review all incoming Official Filing receipts and Recordations and indicates any necessary changes needed and docket needed for correction if applicable. You will review all filing and outgoing correspondence including draft applications and draft amendments in the absence of the supervisor. You will maintain the integrity and accuracy of the docketing database and research/correct problems should they occur. You will prepare the PTO courier to run and ensures all filings are accounted for/checked against the daily docket sheet report. You will assign new docket numbers to new clients and new cases, maintain a list of new docket numbers assigned to new clients, and maintain a docket log of docket numbers for existing clients.

In accordance with New York’s Pay Transparency Law, the pay range for this position, if hired to work in New York City, is $75,000 – $95,000. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience and overall qualifications.
