Sr Business Development Mgr.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage sales cycle from lead generation to closing and documentation. Cross sell and up sell energy efficiency and demand management products and services to increase sales efficiency and production for current and future program years.
  • Build a business case demonstrating value of energy efficiency projects with end-use customers and estimating incentives
  • Develop and manage relationships with key C-Suite executives amongst Con Edison’s largest customers
  • Sell electric, gas and district steam energy efficiency and demand management programs, with emphasis on building electrification.
  • Monitor, analyze and evaluate all sales program performance against goals. Develop recommendations for sales program improvements. Collaborate with program teams, building engineering, market research/analytics and marketing on Sales programs.
  • Support business development for all energy efficiency and demand management programs and ensure that all program guidelines are met.
  • Support and implement an effective sales strategy. Manage sales presentation and customer commitment documentation.
  • Build, maintain and create new relationships with customers, market partners and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and maintain all sales activities (i.e. leads, facility assessments, outreach, etc) in CRM system
  • Ensure project timelines are maintained accurately in CRM system
  • Assist program delivery team in project reviews as needed, such as obtaining additional information, facilitating meetings, etc.
  • Participate and/or speak at energy efficiency industry events and forums
  • Liaison between customer and program team to negotiate special project conditions as needed
  • Work closely with the Company’s Market Research/Analytics and Research and Development teams and other energy related research organizations, such as EPRI, AGA, E-Source to understand new technologies, sales process and tools to support growth and achieve business goals and keep informed of industry trends.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree 6+ years of professional work experience
  • Master’s Degree 4+ years of professional work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business/Economics

Relevant Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Working experience in business development with C-suite commercial customers. Required
  • Experience developing and negotiating projects valued above $1M. Required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and managing sales cycles with long lead times. Required
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with C-suite executives to create valuable business opportunities. Required
  • Strong Verbal, Written and Presentation Communication Skills. Required
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce or other CRM systems to manage customer interactions and track sales progress. Required
  • Exhibited highly organized and detail-oriented work approach. Required
  • Familiarity with building electrification technologies. Required
  • Demonstrated analytical and financial acumen for data-driven decision-making. Required
  • Possessed strong project management skills, with PMP certification as an advantage. Preferred
  • Strong technical background with preferred energy efficiency experience. Preferred
  • 3-5 years Sales experience with energy efficiency projects Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver’s License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to use hands for entire shift
  • Must stand to use operate office equipment for entire shift

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
