Software Integration and Quality Specialist – Port Orchard, WA (onsite required)
Exciting opportunity to further the advancement of cutting-edge technology that supports some of the top-notch US defense/intelligence services and systems with one of our major defense industry clients. We are working directly with the hiring manager to bring on the brightest and best for this long-term contract (12 months) with a high potential for conversion to permanent. Desired compensation range $48-$55 hourly on W2.(Contracts do not include benefits) Due to being in the US Defense industry there is a requirement for US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. (Sorry no exceptions such as 3rd parties, 1099, education visas etc.)
Seeking an entry level Software Integration position to work out of our Port Orchard, WA office to focus on Integration and Quality Assurance & Testing.
Responsibilities include:
- Software integration solutions for various secure Windows and Linux environments primarily using a variety of scripting, networking, domain configuration, mobile architecture, and database tools
- Support integration and testing of unique software applications for the US Navy based on Progeny’s innovative, high quality engineering solutions in an agile environment
- Work with and contribute to a developing DevSecOps pipeline process in support of futures software and infrastructure containerization efforts
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and management of software lab test environments
- Comply with existing, but flexible, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, defined processes, and control mechanisms to ensure configuration control and high-quality product integration, test, and certification
- Run manual test cases on an enterprise level application and other support tools at various points in the release cycle
- Utilize bug tracking software to accurately record software deficiencies and validate software fixes
- Author test cases based on developer requirements
- Preparation of documentation to support installation, configuration and support of software including installation procedures, build verification tests, operability tests, and user manuals
- Provide Tier 2 support for the progeny field service team in addressing issues on installed customer platforms
Ideal Background:
- -4 years software integration or testing experience
- Security Clearance: This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
- Basic knowledge & understanding of some or all of the following items is desired but not required:
- Windows, Linux
- Jboss / Wildfly web container
- Relational Databases (Oracle & MS SQL Server)
- Java
- Software Versioning Control solutions (i.e., Source Gear Vault, SVN)
- Bash shell, VBScript, JavaScript, Windows Scripting, WBEM, .NET
- VMWare, Hyper-V
- Docker, Kubernetes
- Keycloak
- Istio
- PostgreSQL
- Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to trouble shoot complex issues
- Basic understanding of software engineering disciplines from requirements development to validation
- Detail-oriented about testing, troubleshooting and documentation
- Strong organizational and analytical skills as well as practical problem-solving and decision skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and be able to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously
- Basic understanding of software testing principles and defect life cycle
Big Pluses:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering) or related field.
- Previous experience as QA Engineer.
- Strong understanding problem solving techniques and demonstration of results and improvements
- Broad technical knowledge with experience in an electronics assembly and ISO9001 or similar environment.
- Practical knowledge and experience with all aspects of the ASQ CQE Body of Knowledge.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related specialized area or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
