COMPENSATION: $110k – $135k per year

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Software engineers design and develop custom software, systems, and integrations. Software engineers work with a team of fellow software engineers, QA engineers, and business systems analysts in an agile/scrum process to deliver enhanced product value. In this position you’ll primarily work in Python or PHP, but there may be opportunities or requirement to work with other languages or tools as needed. In addition to writing code, the successful candidate will design technical solutions with IT operations teams, participate in scrum ceremonies, and work with stakeholders to understand workflows and requests. As level 2 engineers, candidates are expected to complete tasks assigned to them, but are also expected to utilize critical thinking to identify design issues and propose technical or functional enhancements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop custom software and data warehousing solutions according to ticket specifications, with an emphasis on leveraging cloud services
- Participate in code review sessions with other developers and leads
- Participate in scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily standups
- Evaluate complexity of proposed solutions, in terms of effort needed as well as impacts to other projects
- Meet with clients, partners, product owners, or other stakeholders to understand and clarify workflows and requirements
- Highlight blockers or issues arising during development to resolve in a timely manner
- Monitor process and log information, troubleshooting issues as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be proficient coding in Python and/or PHP
- Strong understanding of relational databases, ex: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL
- Must be able to confidently write and optimize complex queries involving multiple tables
- Familiarity with AWS data lake/warehousing/streaming services, ex: S3, Athena, Glue, Kafka (MSK)
- Experience with using non-relational databases, ex: MongoDB, DynamoDB, Athena
- Ability to effectively use version control, including ability to branch and merge in git
- Ability to programmatically read and write a variety of structured and unstructured formats, such as JSON, CSV, Parque, and XML
- Experience with production and consumption of web services (ex: REST, SOAP, AMQP)
- Basic understanding and usage of Docker containers, with emphasis on Amazon ECS
- Competency in translating functional requirements into technical requirements, highlighting complexity and problematic areas
- Ability to logically troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Experience with and/or certifications in AWS or other cloud technologies is a plus
- Be available to work outside of normal business hours to coordinate with people in global time zones
- Experience building and servicing ETL pipelines and data streams
- Familiarity with Data Engineering tools and concepts is a plus, with emphasis on PySpark, Numpy, Pandas, etc
- Some experience with frontend development is a plus, with emphasis on modern frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, and Bootstrap
- Some experience with BI reporting tools is a plus, with emphasis on AWS Quicksight or Tableau
