The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer (Associate, Mid-Level) to join the Virtual Warfare Center team located in Berkeley, MO or Arlington, VA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
You will be a part of the software team that develops a broad spectrum of military simulations. The simulations include engineering, engagement, mission, and campaign level analytic war gaming and experimentation. The position will support Boeing’s Operations Analysis function through sustainment and extension of a government simulation package called AFSIM. The ideal candidate will have C++ experience and will feel comfortable taking ownership of open-ended tasking. The team operates in an Agile fashion, with particular emphasis on dialogue with our Operations Analysis partners.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate, Mid-Level Software Engineers.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop new domain specific simulation features to aid Analysts.
- Maintain and support internal, Boeing-specific needs of Government provided Analysis framework (AFSIM).
- Coordinate with customers and partners to better understand requirements and use cases.
- Work with experimentation teams preparing for customer events to verify functionality.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 1- 3 years of experience with C++ programming language
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
- Software modelling or simulation experience
- Experience with AFSIM, AFSIM Mystics, and AFSIM Warlock, but not required
- Experience with event based simulation
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Exposure to Linux (RHEL specifically) and Windows
- Candidate should have strong computing skills, excellent communication skills, be customer-oriented, positive, flexible, and a strong team player
Typical Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2)
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Mid-Level (Level 3)
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience).
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range Associate: $85,000.00 – $123,050.00
Summary pay range Mid-level: $104,550.00 – $151,800.00
