Put your programming skills to the test as you work alongside senior staff to design and develop the next generation of Esri’s innovative software.
Responsibilities
Esri interns contribute to real projects and are mentored by team members along the way. Some of our technically-oriented interns have worked on a wide range of exciting projects such as:
- Exploring Machine Learning driven GIS for aerial detection
- Creating tools based in Data Science and Machine Learning to find patterns within massive data sets
- Developing an augmented reality app for Android mobile devices
- Building utility geoprocessing server and portal functions for ArcGIS Enterprise
- Utilizing Python to implement a faster solution for 3D segmentation techniques
- Developing and implementing JavaScript web app with analytical functions within ArcGIS
- Combining geospatial technology with mobile apps to aide first responders in disaster relief
Program Timeline
- Applications Accepted: September 1 – December 31, 2023 at 5:00 pm PST
- Interviews: Students selected for phone interviews will be notified by email on a rolling basis October 2023 – January 31, 2024
- Internship: 12 weeks beginning in late May or June

Requirements
- We seek students who are majoring in computer science and are currently enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program at a university in the United States; undergrads must be a junior or in senior standing
- Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2024
- Able to complete a 12-week internship beginning in May or June 2024
- Knowledge in one or more of these areas: C++, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, iOS, Android or Windows mobile technology; no GIS required!

The pay range for this internship takes into account education level and previous relevant work experience to include specialized skill sets. Interns who meet minimum qualifications during their internship may also qualify for 401(k) and profit share.
A reasonable estimate of the base pay range is $38.00 – $45.00.
