Position Information
Under the direction of an assigned Recreation Supervisor or Manager, serve as an Afterschool Site Lead on campus and manage the day-to-day operations of the Beyond the Bell program, which includes Clubs, Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO’s), Sports and Childcare at specific TPS locations.
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, implement appropriate safety practices at all times and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards.
Essential Duties
- Serves as Site lead at TPS school site
- Administers safety plans, provided by assigned supervisor, at each site and provides safety trainings per safety plans for all providers.
- Manages day to day operations the Club B program. Provides on site support and supervision for all instructors who are delivering clubs, enrichments and sports programs.
- Serves as a liaison to TPS on site personnel: principals, custodial staff, classroom teachers; communicates with TPS administrative and custodial personnel to ensure staff awareness of Beyond the Bell offerings at each site.
- Ensures announcements are provided during check in; collects and manages all attendance rosters; works with nutrition staff to ensure distribution of meals.
- Ensures supervision occurs in all programs, reports concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Manages youth interns to lend extra support in classrooms.
- Serves as sub teacher when needed.
- Ensures chain of custody, including check in, hand off to classroom instructors, check out and bus ridership
- Interfaces with parents of children enrolled.
- Participates in recruitment and promotion for clubs, ELOs and Sports.
- Ensures program quality and SEL roll out for on -site instructors; assists with surveys, data collection and performance outcomes
- Works with facility scheduler to place opportunities in rooms on behalf of all providers, including childcare.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Tacoma Public School employee highly desired.
- Two years of experience working with youth or coordinating youth programs desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation or related degree desired.

DAILY SITE SCHEDULE:(Clubs are offered Monday/ Wednesday & Tuesday/ Thursday)
• 2:45 – 3:00 (Welcome/ Emotion Check/ Snack)
• 3:00 – 3:20 (SEL Spotlight)
• 3:20 – 4:30 (ELO Learning, Enrichment + Sports)
• 4:30 – 4:45 (Closing Circle)
• 4:45 – 5:00 (Final Parent Pick-Up)
HOURS:
Approximately 15 – 17 hours per week
Program Monday-Thursday, 2:15-5:30 pm (*expected to attend virtual and/ or in person Site Lead check ins each week, as well as lead safety drills on assigned Fridays for various providers).
