Position Overview
MERS Goodwill is adding Service Specialists to our team. Service Specialists are the core of our mission, ‘Changing lives through the power of work’, serving individuals who are receiving Temporary Assistance or SNAP benefits, and youth in foster care. Service Specialists work with participants to develop individual service plans working toward short-term and long-term goals, with activities including the following:
- Conduct comprehensive initial intake and orientation to available services.
- Develop job readiness skills
- Identify supportive service needs that can be addressed by the program, such as transportation, work-related expenses, and occupational skills training.
- Provide job placement services, via career exploration, resume development, application support, and interview preparation.
- Establish professional relationships, develops and maintains knowledge of community resources. Make referrals, advocates, and follows-up.
- Maintain regular contact with participants.
- Places participants in appropriate activities including community services.
- Completes agency documentation and data entry in a timely manner..
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in Social Service field required.
- Requires ability to observe and work well with program participants; possess excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Must possess driver’s license, vehicle, insurance, and ability/willingness to travel occasionally for home visits and other community activity to provide services.
- Background check with the Family Care Safety Registry required.
