Summary:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. This position may take ownership for a specific project or hold a larger remit in terms of purchasing responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchases goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Ensures continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
  • Stays current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
  • Develops ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
  • Negotiates contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and reviews opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  • Assesses and evaluates suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • Builds, maintains, and manages supplier relationships and ensure consistent communications; works with suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues
  • Prepares purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements
  • Mentors and coaches Buyers to enhance their career and professional development
  • Works collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing and production activities
  • Supports product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
  • Effectively communicate and document the conduction

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of contract management, supplier experience, and strategic sourcing
  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of supply chain experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, advanced proficiency in Excel
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Purchasing experience in a marine, fishing, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and components and supply chain management
  • Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $80,000 to $100,000.
