Position Summary

Rice University’s George R. Brown School of Engineering is a top-ranked program that empowers the next generation of leaders with strong technical and communication skills, creative problem-solving and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. We are seeking a Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist to plan, execute, and evaluate a variety of communications initiatives, projects, and platforms on behalf of the department. In this role, you will support the Director of Communications in driving branding efforts across the school, developing and implementing new marketing and communications strategies, and collecting and analyzing data to assess their efficiency.

Our ideal candidate must have a strong background in writing and editing and should have experience executing multi-channel marketing strategies (email, social, website, and digital advertising). You should enjoy working collaboratively with a team and have a passion for marketing and communication.

This position is hiring at a starting salary between $70,000 and $80,000 per year. This is a remote work position with occasional requirements to be in-person on campus. Limited to no travel is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field
  • Three years of developing and implementing successful communications and marketing strategies
  • Skills Required
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
    • Good organization and creativity skills
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and own projects
    • Ability to take direction and work to meet expected deadlines and schedules
    • Demonstrated team player

Essential Functions

  • Develops and manages the communication and brand strategy for individual program(s) incorporating appropriate channels
  • Recommends, manages, and executes integrated marketing plans / programs and strategies to meet business objectives
  • Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of communication and marketing materials
  • Guides event planning and execution
  • Manages vendors on specific projects
  • Manages program budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals
  • Manages market research and analysis used to make informed decisions regarding strategic marketing direction and customer targeting
  • Assesses market opportunities and tracks market trends
  • Recommends marketing improvements based on findings
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Preferences

  • Five years of experience in developing and implementing successful communications and marketing strategies
