The Emerging Tech team is passionate about solving customer and associate problems with the newest technologies. The team is responsible for creating breakthrough capabilities, delivering frictionless experiences and making these technologies easily available to thousands of Walmart developers and 2.2 million associates. The Extended Reality Team is looking for a Senior Manager I, Software Engineering – Technology Operations (AR/3D) to join the team. The Sr. Manager will be coordinating with vendors and suppliers to provide 3D assets, producing the 3D assets at scale.

About Team: Extended Reality Team
As the Walmart Extended Reality Team, we are building a new platform to allow our customers to shop with confidence using Virtual Try On, View In Your Home, View In 3D experiences. The team delivers seamless and frictionless experiences that solve long standing customer pain points and take online, in-store and virtual commerce experience to the next level. You will be part of the team that works on industry defining solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Technology Landscape Awareness: Requires knowledge of: Understanding of technology strategy and its linkages to domain; Good understanding of existing and upcoming systems, technologies and trends; Product technical information; Good understanding of domain specific market standards;
    Good understanding of methodologies and tools, processes, checkpoints. To get involved and provide support to technology/ domain stakeholders to solve complex issues (i.e. how does the technology impacts). Develop business cases for projects with a projected return on investment or cost savings. Demonstrate deep functional knowledge of the business unit/domain. Translate business unit/domain requirements into projects, activities, and tasks and aligns to overall technology strategy. Serve as an interpreter and conduit to connect business unit/domain needs with tangible solutions and results. Participate in creating new processes and ways of working.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing: Possess Knowledge of: Product quality standards; quality assurance methodologies; quality evaluation tools. To be able to carry out the following responsibilities: Works with a specific methodology for testing and quality assurance of technology products; describes tools, environments, and considerations for acceptance, alpha, and beta testing; describes quality evaluation tools and techniques (for example, walkthroughs, inspections); adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices; describes major steps, deliverables, and approval points of a quality assurance methodology.
  • Partnership & Collaboration: Possess knowledge of: Vendor identification and mapping; vendor analysis; stakeholder communication; vendor engagement techniques; vendor management effectiveness tools and methods; fluency in specialized business vernacular. To be able to carry out the following responsibilities: Engages with team members on a periodic basis and establishes credibility; analyzes stakeholder needs and partners with vendors to share relevant information; responds effectively and efficiently to requests; takes a “one team” approach to collaborate and accomplishes goals.

What you’ll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in managing or working with teams building large scale projects or applications
  • 5+ years of effectively managing the day-to-day operations of cross company programs
  • 5+ years of managing or working with teams developing Web Applications
  • 5+ years of Web development experience with good knowledge of javascript & web frameworks
  • Deep understanding of working with various aspects of Full Stack Development including Data Science
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of the Augmented Reality space along with 3D is a plus
  • Experience with working with Game Design, 3D modelling, 3D Computer Graphics teams is a plus
  • Experience in working with multiple vendors producing 3D Assets
  • Experience in working with teams of 3D Artists and 3D tools such as Blender, Maya

The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00-$216,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

– Stock equity incentives
