The Senior Manager I, Advanced Analytics is a tactical role that will add value through strategic insights to help drive the improvement of the WFS platform as well as the WFS seller experience. In this role you will focus on executing the Voice of Seller roadmap, and among other things, bring visibility to seller experience on the platform by analyzing indicative patterns in quantitative and qualitative data collected through seller research, chatbots and seller support emails. You will also help connect the seller performance to key seller feedback by applying the right data science techniques and building visualizations to develop data driven recommendations.

The right candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in a startup environment. This role is built for a creative problem solver with strong analytics, data modeling skills, along with a program management and consulting mindset. Communication and data storytelling will also be a crucial part of this role as you will work with Senior Leadership and cross functional stakeholders. This role is remote, so ability to proactively communicate and collaborate by building digital stakeholder relationships is key for success.

Here are some ways this role drives value and growth in the WFS organization:

  • Business Partnerships: Consults with WFS senior leadership/ business partners (e.g., VP/Sr. Directors/Directors) to understand goals/functional objectives, understand and identify key business issues and formulate ideas to mitigate current and future business challenges/issues; confirms functional research objectives and oversees development of tactical research plans. Manages the creation of and presents actionable recommendations to Sr. Directors/Directors to contribute to business results. Serves as a subject matter expert to the business on market insights.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Research: Manages the development and application of research methodologies to address advanced business and technical problems and support data-driven decision making.
  • Insights Identification: Reviews information from multiple sources, and organizes research and analytical findings to present clear, actionable solutions to strategic business issues. Crafts key insights and messages in reports/executive presentations, translating findings and preliminary recommendations into actionable plans in a clear, compelling manner for non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
  • Problem Solving Approach and Data Identification: Reviews proposed research hypotheses with a view towards investigating unrecognized business issues. Reviews and advises on most efficient and appropriate research methodology (e.g., primary vs secondary research, advanced analytics, predictive analytics). Defines tactical methods and procedures to identify, collect and collate learning from Seller interviews and survey.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with functional leadership and cross-functional teams (e.g., other Customer Insights & Strategy teams, Marketing Sciences, Merchandising) to develop consultative solutions for multiple small-to-medium projects. Interacts on a daily basis, and collaborates with external business partners and vendors.
  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and Voice of Seller roadmap by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
  • Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

  • You are a creative problem solver: You are someone who can operate with minimal direction once you get settled in. Constantly monitoring the business and identifying opportunities and proposing solutions. You will ask the right questions and think about how to creatively solve the problem with limited resources available. Knowing when to trade off long term outlook for short term wins and vice versa as well as prioritizing speed over perfection to enable business decisions.
  • You are comfortable with model development: W ith super strong analytics / data science background and a deep understanding of retail analytics, you will build and manage parts of the development and implementation of supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms (regressions, clustering, text analytics etc.) to devise analytical solutions to business problem. Focusing on cross functional projects within a business area to help drive proof of concept / prototype, implement algorithms, and track and improve performance through continuous improvements.
  • You love data storytelling: You can tease through data to identify trends and patterns and h elp prepare and deliver simple yet compelling data driven insights to communicate analytical stories to cross-functional partners (e.g., business operations, product) to gain buy-in and be able to represent key visual trends through reporting in tableau or looker.
  • You are a champion collaborator : You help identify use cases through cross-functional collaborations across the organization and influence partners through strategic insights (e.g., seller support, supply chain operation, inventory management). You partner with senior leadership to develop and drive data driven strategies and drive your roadmap based on current and future needs of stakeholders.
  • You have a background in Consumer or B2B research (not a requirement)

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Developing an expert understanding of our sellers’ needs – Collaborate on various research projects crafted to help better understand seller needs, pain points on our platform and to answer actionable and high impact business questions
  • Analyzing data and finding insights – Craft, analyze, and present seller behavior metrics across the lifecycle, such as acquisition conversion, onboarding churn, new seller productivity, retention and program adoption metrics.
  • Driving a “seller obsessed” culture within Walmart – Be the “voice of the seller”. Uncover impactful insights from research and translate them into strategic recommendations to influence key business decisions. Clearly communication opportunities across Walmart teams to enable our ability to deploy a best-in-class platform, service and offerings
  • Innovate and scale our feedback collection process – Optimize and build mechanisms to understand and test seller sentiment through multiple channels (e.g., surveys, in-app feedback, transactional feedback, social networks. etc), leveraging data science/ML to efficiently extract learnings at scale.
  • Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Business leaders – Take an ownership mindset and strategically thought partner with product, tech and business teams to advise and consult on seller priorities and inform our roadmaps

The annual salary range for this position is $128,000.00-$192,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

– Stock equity incentives

Minimum Qualifications…
