Overview

The Senior Landscape Architect serves as a lead Project Manager in the design, development, implementation, and completion of Capital Bond and landscape related projects.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions

  • Manages the design process for landscaping and related projects; reviews plans and submittals for design phases, providing feedback and revisions, checks progress for submitted invoices, and monitors project from inception to completion.
  • Prepares agenda information for the Park Board and City Council; drafts submittals for risk review, certification, insurance requirements, and standards for project implementation; presents projects to the Park Board, using power point presentations and other methods of communication.
  • Evaluates, checks, and compiles bids and proposals; advertises bid packages, holds pre-bid meetings, and communicate in a clear and concise manner, making sure that all parties hear and understand project information; administers the awarding of projects upon design completion.
  • Provides excellent and competent Project Management for the duration of the various projects across the City; resolves contractor problems, amends project plans as issues or changes occur, and maintains strong communication with all parties handling logistics and project specifications.
  • Keeps, tracks, and edits detailed information of progress on each project; updates project information in project management system; solves project problems and unusual developments pertaining to all phases of design and construction; ensures compliance with relative standards and provides direction and guidance to staff, personnel, and consultants engaged in completing projects.
  • Attends after hours neighborhood meetings that concern Park projects, working with concerned neighborhood groups; provides insight, customer service and related discussion.
  • Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • 5 Years of experience designing and managing landscape projects

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Landscape Architect

Education

  • Associates Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, Urban or Regional Planning, or other related field. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Ability to design, plan, and implement large scale landscaping and related projects

  • Knowledge of certifications, expectations, and other logistics regarding project inception to completion.
  • Ability to solve problems, suggest change orders, and implement project changes.
