JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Superintendent performs necessary tasks to profitably complete projects for Core Claims, Large loss, Emergency Services, Mitigation and Contents. These tasks include anything necessary for the completion of the projects ranging in complexity from labor to light trade work and complex finish carpentry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN ON-SITE SUPERINTENDENT:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Construction Superintendent insures company and customer satisfaction through professional appearance, expert workmanship and polite communication.
- Inform the Project Manager of the progress of the project daily, including any customer concerns, problems, delays, etc.
- Be responsible for the efficient and profitable use of the company’s time, manpower and materials on each project.
- Construction Superintendent monitors and report on the activities of the company’s independent subcontractors.
- Insure the image of the company is supported by the appearance and activities of the subcontractors and job sites.
- Maintain an on-hand supply of and properly complete company time sheets.
- Property location oversight
- Perform carpentry work as needed.
- Construction Superintendent manages workflow of field carpenters and laborers
- Communication with property owners
- Interacting and scheduling of subcontractors
- Interacting with county officials
- Other tasks as necessary
Skills Imperative To The Job:
- Good oral and verbal communication
- Excellent carpentry skills
- Experience managing/supervising a team of subcontractors
- Self starter, great organizational and planning
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of building codes (IRC 2006)
- Knowledge of fire and water restoration
- Knowledge and experience in local communities of the region
- Formal education in building sciences or similar field

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associates degree (A.A or A.S) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and the ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is regularly required to visit project sites that have incurred catastrophic events from fire, water, and storm damage and could require accessing roofs, in which case they will need to be able to carry up to a 40′ ladder from their truck and set it up at the roof line of the associated property.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This position requires frequent intermittent bending, reaching, walking and standing. Employee must be able to navigate the jobsite. Employee must use hands to manipulate, handle, feel or operate tools, objects or controls and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
