Job Description
The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing is looking for an experienced events coordinator to lead the University of Missouri’s signature events. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Strategic Communications, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing high-impact events that reflect the strong reputation, stakeholder engagement and brand of the institution. This position is a key member of a team focused on projects that reflect the highest priorities of Mizzou. A successful candidate must be professional, have excellent problem-solving, communication, customer service and relationship-building skills to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the university in order to deliver strong results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serve as the lead on all university signature events assigned to the Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing working closely with the Offices of the President and the Provost.
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of large, high-impact, public-facing university-wide events often hosted by the president and/or provost from conception to completion and debrief.
- Build budget and event proposals to support leadership expectations.
- Manage individual event budgets and prepare post-event reports for future reference.
- Manage the day-to-day event logistics including staffing, reservations, vendors, catering and menus, decor, invitations and programs, audio/visual coordination, entertainment, seating arrangements, guest list and audience management, registration, setup, etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and vendors to ensure the highest quality and production for each event.
- Work closely with the Integrated Communications team and JOSCM partners team to ensure internal and external communications, marketing and digital assets align with each signature event.
- Uphold the highest standard of customer service for all event partners and audiences.
- Advise campus colleagues on questions related to events and provide event guidance for campus response to critical issues as relevant.
- Serve on the executive committee for the Campus Events Council.

Salary
Salary Range: $47,476 – $65,468/yr
Grade: GGS 010
University Title: SENIOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

8AM – 5PM plus events
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a manager for large, highly visible events with multiple cross-functional internal and external partners.
- Outstanding collaboration skills and a proven ability to work with a wide variety of constituents to establish and meet shared institutional goals.
- Previous work experience in an academic setting.
