Overview

The Senior Event Manager provides professional services to promoter representatives to ensure all requirements are met for all sporting events, family shows, and concerts. Oversee and supervise Operations Department event staff to develop and promote best practices in elevating service excellence. Salary $65,000.00 to $70,000.00

About the Venue

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania, and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and advance with event and promoter representatives to ensure all requirements are met for all events as assigned
  • Directly supervises Operations Department in set up and execution of event related activities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with OVG360 policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include directing work as needed to facilitate successful completion of events.
  • Monitor and supervise the facility on the day of events to ensure operational policies and procedures are being followed
  • Exercise discretion and utilizes independent decision-making during events that will best represent the facility and the client
  • Develop concepts, rules, policies, and procedures for private events to adhere to budgetary constraints.
  • Estimate and track labor costs on a show/event basis
  • Ensure timely and accurate event information is delivered to the Finance Department for settlement/invoicing purposes
  • Support facility operations by participating in appropriate planning, organization, and other event and facility meetings
  • Maintain positive relationship with event-related accounts, including food and beverage, building trades, convention services, city services, building security, etc.
  • Develop AutoCAD drawings in conjunction with event production team as needed
  • Troubleshoot during event preparation and events to ensure all set-ups are correctly
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Sports Management or related field and/or related work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial and event production experience (games and live entertainment) in an NBA and/or NHL facility or an arena seating capacity over 10,000, hosting large scale touring productions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Working knowledge of the principles of facility management, services, equipment for a similar facility
  • Excellent organizational, planning and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and manipulate AutoCAD drawings
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, including those that require tight deadlines
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or rigorous schedule and produce accurate results
  • Detail oriented, quick thinking, problem solver who is self-motivated, composed under pressure and thrives in a team environment
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs. to assist in moving tables, chairs, Tensa barrier, bike rack, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including long shifts, early mornings, weekends, evenings, and holidays as dictated by event schedule
