Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Senior Critical Enivironment Program Manager, Northern Virginia Metro, you will perform a key role in delivering and managing the critical environment infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ years program management experience in large scale mission-critical operations and construction
    • OR 3+ years’ program management experience in large scale mission-critical operations and construction.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

To promote health and safety in the workplace, employees are subject to required health related screenings, such as hearing testing, which includes both baseline testing and annual retests, where permitted by applicable law.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) or working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling).
  • Experience working with the operation of building cooling, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM), and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience in project management or relevant certification/training in project management.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Data Center Operations Management IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $99,000 – $195,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $129,500 – $216,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, guidance, and oversight on projects, programs, and initiatives for the Critical Environment (CE) discipline of Data Center Field Operations (DCO) as a primary operations point of contact during the data center construction process.
  • Own and drive resolution of identified gaps on the ground with DCO business partners during data center construction.
  • Work alongside internal and external construction business partners throughout the entire construction process, leaving no detail unchecked, to guarantee quality on transition to operations.
  • Act as the central point of contact for DCO teams, actively seeking their feedback on the progress of the under-construction data center, translating insights into actionable improvements that enhance project delivery.
  • Champion the standardization of procedures across your area of influence, fostering alignment with metro, regional and global teams, and relentlessly promoting streamlined operations.
  • Foster effective collaboration with partner teams, utilizing negotiation and an astute ability to identify and drive tasks that yield exceptional quality results, aligning with the Operations organization’s high standards.
  • Offer direct support to construction personnel during critical construction phases leveraging extensive operational knowledge to address complex challenges.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze the risk profile of the metro area, offering strategic guidance and action plans to effectively mitigate risk factors while meticulously tracking progress.
  • Enforce compliance with Microsoft’s policies, standards, Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), and guidelines, ensuring unwavering adherence to the Operations organization’s quality standards.
  • Adhere to Critical Environments Policy and Standards to drive consistency and best practice adoption across the region.
  • Identify areas for enhancement and drive continuous improvement efforts to elevate delivery to meet or exceed organizational standards.
  • Utilize structured governance to prioritize and manage projects, consistently ensuring that project outcomes align with the Operations organization’s expectations.
