Do you have experience representing multinational companies on data privacy and cyber security issues, solving complex privacy issues, and developing governance frameworks and processes to comply with global privacy laws? If so, you may be the person we’re seeking to serve as Privacy Counsel for Amazon’s Worldwide Operations. The Privacy Counsel will leverage their expertise in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and other national and state privacy laws around the world to advise Amazon’s Worldwide Operations organization on how to prepare for and comply with privacy regulations and launch new products and services involving emerging technologies.
Key job responsibilities
• Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business teams, engineering teams, and compliance teams – and across Amazon legal and public policy teams – to help build a privacy program that addresses both regulatory compliance and business needs across the Operations organization.
• Providing legal advice on data privacy and security matters to privacy specialists, data security and privacy engineers, product managers, service teams, and business leadership within Operations.
• As an expert on privacy matters and a resource for business line lawyers supporting Operations teams, co-piloting privacy reviews, the verification and improvement of data attestations and records of processing, the completion of privacy impact assessments, and the implementation of standard privacy and security-related contractual clauses.
• Supporting continuous process improvement and simplification efforts benefiting our legal teams and the businesses we support, including developing and publishing privacy tenets, compliance standards, best practices, checklists, and self-service resources for the legal team and business partners.
• Developing and delivering privacy trainings for legal team members and business partners.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar.
• 12+ years practicing at a law firm, corporation, military, or similar experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/A, CIPM or other privacy certification.
• Experience synthesizing advice from outside counsel and subject matter experts across multiple countries.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and computer skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $146,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
