Senior Associate, Communications

The Hatcher Group seeks a senior associate to support work within our government sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development of content, research, and strategy for client advertising and marketing campaigns. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy the challenge of refreshing content, crafting new campaigns, and engaging audiences through written communication. Learning and applying project management best practices will also be an essential function of this role.

At Hatcher, we are proud to maintain a ‘flexible first’ work culture. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to our Bethesda office for regular in-person collaboration. The target salary range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and internal equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft compelling content for client deliverables including marketing emails, ads, and website copy.
  • Develop, deliver, and implement plans using research, copywriting, and marketing skills.
  • Assist project manager with daily client contact, updating and distributing briefs, writing contact reports, and facilitating workflow from client to agency.
  • Execute thorough research related to market trends, community engagement, and client objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of professionals to ensure client success.
  • Work in conjunction with digital and creative project leads to evaluate the results of team’s performance to ensure compliance with contracts and client requirements.
  • Manage details related to campaigns to ensure successful implementation of the clients’ programs.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Contribute positively to a team environment rooted in the firm’s core values, upholding our community guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, Advertising, Journalism, or related field
  • A minimum 3 years of professional experience
  • Superior project management skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Monday.com or similar project management system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects
  • Proactive and process-oriented workstyle
  • Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • A background check/security clearance may be required (e.g., if necessary, this job is dependent on the ability to pass or obtain)
