Senior Associate, B2C Communications

Job Description:

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Senior Associate of B2C Communications is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day execution of communication strategies and plans that support multiple Dow Jones business newsrooms, including Barron’s, MarketWatch and Investor’s Business Daily.

The ideal candidate will have internal and external communications experience, extensive knowledge of the ever-evolving media landscape and a passion for informing audiences through clear and creative storytelling. This position reports to the B2C Business Partner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

External Communications

  • Assist in creating compelling storylines and communications for internal and external audiences
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contacts across media outlets-consumer, trade, online and community
  • Book and manage appearances across broadcast, print and digital media outlets
  • Manage press outreach and media coverage for events
  • Generate creative, compelling, well-written press materials including press releases, media alerts, pitch letters, bios, fact sheets
  • Track and record all external placements and comprise regular media reports
  • Generate and update media lists

Internal Communications

  • Collaborate with the B2C Director and Business Partner to deliver on communications needs for internal stakeholders
  • Use traditional and digital communication channels in creative ways that resonate with audiences and align with the overall Dow Jones strategy
  • Craft and edit original content for internal channels, including emails, intranet features and newsletters
  • Draft content for and manage newsroom-specific communications, including town halls, newsletters, leadership messages and more
  • Work cross-functionally with the marketing team to better align external priorities and strategies

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple campaigns at any given time
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and drive to find creative ways to promote Dow Jones products and talent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A diverse mix of experience in PR and corporate communications is highly preferred
  • Experience working in television or the media industry
  • Established relationships with reporters covering media and advertising verticals
  • Familiarity with Muck Rack, TVEyes and other media monitoring systems

Pay Range: $40,000 – $160,000
