This position provides quality customer service to all eligible patrons. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, Navy Exchange and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.

Duties
- This position is located at Camp McKean Recreational facility. Position responsibilities include demonstrating customer service while attending to park visitors and park operations such as, point of sale, customer questions/complaints, issuing kayaks, paddle boards and other equipment.
- Other duties include, housekeeping and program support. Incumbent manages and administers a comprehensive recreation program that includes special events.
- May fill in and administer a comprehensive and diverse recreation program and various recreation facilities that can include but are not limited to Parks and Picnic areas, Tickets & Tours (ITT), Library and Bowling programs, snack bar and supporting command events.
- Partners and coordinates with the in-house programmers to promote and implement a variety of MWR or Community Recreation programs and activities including base-wide special events.
- Ensures all facilities and activities associated with the program meet established safety, security and sanitation guidelines. Takes timely action to correct deficiencies through coordination with local agencies.
- Provides administrative duties and supports through daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Performs supervisory duties which include assigning work, defining priorities, selecting and recommending applicants for hire, evaluating performance, recommending pay adjustments/awards, providing or recommending training, approving and/or disapproving leave requests, initiating corrective actions, and recommending formal corrective/disciplinary actions as warranted.
- Routinely evaluates and reviews ongoing programs and provides activity managers with guidance that may develop, adapt, modify, expand, or otherwise change the program activity to better meet and enhance the expected effectiveness of the programmed activity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion and maintenance of National Agency (NACI) background check
- Must be able to obtain certifications in First Aid and CPR within the first 90 days on the job
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Must be able to work a schedule of 25 to 40 hours per week to include weekends
Qualifications
- Knowledge gained through education and training (i.e. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience
- Combination of experience related to customer service and/or activity based functions
- Experience in preparing, monitoring, and executing an annual operating budget
- Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and methods of procedures use in organizing, planning and conducting all types of activities
- Ability to create, negotiate, implement and sustain partnerships via various MWR agreements
- Program planning and leadership skills to devise and implement a leisure and social recreation program
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Education
Knowledge gained through education and training (i.e. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience
Additional information
The work requires frequent physical exertion while instructing or guiding participants in a variety of activities. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds. Work may require working outside for special events or leading outdoor group outings or trips. Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program to include split days off, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to work a schedule of 25 to 40 hours per week to include weekends
