What you’ll do:
Risk Analyst Interns provide risk management support for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control and reporting, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports the team in the identification, assessment, aggregation and documentation of risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations, and third-party operations.
- Acquires knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
- Applies foundational learning to help support the implementation of new risk policies, practices, appetites, and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of risks according to industry best practice.
- Assists in the process of enhancing strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
- Acquires knowledge to assist in producing analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Supports cross-functional team initiatives to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
- Applies foundational learning to help support the formulation of stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise.
What you need to have:
To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at a 4-year accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2024 internship will start on May 29, 2024 and last through August 09, 2024.
- Graduation date cannot be prior to August 10, 2024
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, or related field at a 4-year accredited university.
- 0 to 2 years of related experience and accountability for simple to moderately complex tasks and/or projects required.
- Foundational and conceptual knowledge of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area required.
- Foundational knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
What sets you apart:
- Knowledge of information security/IT
- Knowledge of reporting and analysis, and control testing
- Graduation date between August 10, 2024, and July 2025

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location. The range for this position is: $22 – $30.
Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
