Boswell Engineering is seeking a Resident Engineer/CEI candidate for an immediate assignment on a bridge replacement project in Region 11. A synopsis of the primary duties of the Resident Engineer include responsibility for Construction Engineering Quality Assurance, supervision of Inspection services staff, project controls, record keeping and quality documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage construction inspection activities and provide contractor oversight
- Ensure that all construction and inspection activities are performed in accordance with established and contractual safety requirements
- Provide guidance and coordinate field and office inspection personnel and assignments
- Enforce client policies and project specific objectives
- Administer and manage the project from the pre-construction phase through contract closeout
- Oversee and ensure all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with the contract documents, budget and schedule
- Evaluate the adequacy of the contractors’ personnel and equipment including the availability of personnel and supplies
- Function as the primary liaison between the company and client interface
- Maintain the Engineers Daily Project Diary describing work progress, problems encountered and other pertinent information
- Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Current registration with the NYS Education Department as a Licensed Professional Engineer
- Demonstrated progressive experience with NYSDOT, including assignments as a Resident Engineer on NYSDOT transportation projects
- Familiarity and working knowledge of SiteManager
- Experience and familiarity with MURK
- Ability to interpret plans/specifications and properly document collected data
- Experience with estimating, scheduling and project management software preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Possess strong people and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work night and/or weekends as required
