Job Description:
Job Summary This position supports Essentia Health’s mission and goals by analyzing healthcare data to identify advancement in clinical outcomes, quality, and business results. This position will work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive clinical and business outcomes. The Data Scientist role contributes to advanced analytics within Essentia, especially for predictive and prescriptive analyses and natural language processing. In addition to direct analysis, the Data Scientist will help mentor analysts outside of Data Science to develop advanced analytics capacity within the organization. Key Responsibilities • Contribute to the building, testing, and deployment of advanced analytical models to support clinical and operational workflows. • Collaboratively define problems and solutions with clinical and business partners. • Contribute to the building, testing, and deployment data pipelines that feed AI/ML solutions, in collaboration with the Data Architecture team. • Help develop communication strategies for complex information around data, AI/ML, and analysis for diverse stakeholders with varying levels of data and numerical literacy. • Collaborate with and serve as a mentor to team members on AI/ML projects.
Education Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Healthcare Analytics or any quantitative analytical field, or a Bachelors in any field plus 2+ years in a Data Science/Advanced Analytics role.
- Knowledge and prior use of some advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, parametric and non-parametric statistical tests, survival analyses, epidemiological models, structural equation modeling, etc.).
- Knowledge and experience in AI/ML techniques, such as: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost, Hugging Face Transformers, process mining, social network analysis, etc.
- Coding knowledge and experience with at least one AI/ML-oriented language, such as: Python, R, Java, Scala, or Julia.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and version control tools and usage, such as GitLab, CML.

Pay Range
$82971 – $124467 / year
The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, as well as internal equity among our team.
